Michael Dillon began his apprenticeship with Galliers and Klearr on Inkerman Street in St Kilda in 1947, marking the beginning of the Dillon’s Plumbing story. Riding his push bike, with a leather tool bag slung over the handlebars, he gained popularity as one of the community’s “Push Bike Plumbers.”
Following his training, Michael worked for Hayes & Geschke Plumbing before starting his own company out of his parents’ Carnegie home. In 1962, he and his spouse, Marie, relocated to East Bentleigh, where she oversaw the office and Michael assembled a small but competent staff.
